Baitullah Mehsud, chief of the Pakistani Taliban who carries a reward of US $ 5 million (approximately Rs 50 crore) and is the most wanted man in Pakistan, today declared plans to launch an attack in Washington “ that will amaze everyone in the world”.

Tragedy revisits Naina Devi pilgrims
24 killed as truck carrying devotees hits tree

In less than eight months’ time yet another tragedy struck pilgrims to the Naina Devi shrine last night killing 24 persons and injuring 73. Around 100 devotees from Jeevanpura and Ghuman in the Machhiwara area of Ludhiana were returning by a truck after paying obeisance at the shrine on occasion of Navratras.

Liberhan panel gets 48th extension
New Delhi, March 31
The term of Liberhan Commission, probing the demolition of disputed structure in Ayodhya, has been extended for the 48th time today for three more months. The Home Ministry issued a notification extending till June 30 the term of the one-man inquiry commission constituted by then Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao to probe into the demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992.

In a significant order, the Income Tax Department today cancelled the tax exemption certificate 12(A) issued to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) as a charitable institution on grounds that it was indulging in widespread commercial activity.
