Following a report in The Tribune on Sunday, the Municipal
Corporation, Dehradun, swung into action and removed the tree that had fallen on the roof of a tin shed in the District Courts complex a couple of months back. The District Bar Association had had been pleading with the MC that the tree be removed but in vain. Lawyers as well as litigants heaved a sigh of relief after it was removed from the tin shed on Monday. The shed built during the British era is in a dilapidated condition.

Dehradun. It it was none other than the Maharaja of Nabha who took up the cudgels to protect wild life, particularly at a time when awareness on conservation was minimal.

As the state completes its eighth year of existence, Uttarkhand has made rapid strides in enriching its forests and wildlife after initial hiccups. A state that has over 60 per cent of its geographical area under forests did certainly prove its credentials.
