E-mail threat to Patil

Pune, October 12
Confirming that a threat mail against President Pratibha Patil has been received by Rashtrapati Bhavan, officials here said central intelligence agencies were probing the case.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the e-mail addressed to the President. Officials said central intelligence agencies and the Delhi Police had been provided with details and were working on leads. While the e-mail also mentions Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the threat has been issued to the President alone. The mail reportedly mentions words such as "doomed" and "damned country". Sent by unidentified persons, it claims that the attackers may come in "any disguise". Patil is here on a four-day visit. Her security has been further tightened following the threat. — PTI
