Adilabad, October 12
Six persons, including two children, were today charred to death at their residence in Vottoli, allegedly in connection with recent clashes in this district of Andhra Pradesh.

The state home minister Jana Reddy, who arrived here to study the situation, visited Bhainsa and Vottoli where the incidents occurred during the wee hours today. He said a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

The state government has already ordered a thorough inquiry into the Vottoli incident and asked the investigation officer to submit a report within thirty days.

Jana said along with the local police, members of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) from New Delhi would also be deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order.

He said after consultation with the chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the state government would announce suitable relief packages to the victims of the communal clashes.

Meanwhile, tension prevails at Bhainsa town but the situation at Nirmal and Asifabad was under control, the police said. — UNI
