Dehra Dun, October 4
Eleven days after the bodies of Christian missionary Samuel Francis and his
disciple Mercy were recovered from Samarpan Ashram in Sahaspur, senior
superintendent of police Amit Sinha and scientists yesterday visited the
ashram to examine the crime scene.

The site provided important clues, said police officials. But according to sources, the police was still groping in the dark.

It may be recalled that Christian missionary Samuel Francis and his disciple Mercy were strangulated at Samarpan Ashram on September 22.

Subsequently, the police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone providing information about the murderer.

After initial investigations, the police suspected that a boy, who used to bring newspapers to the ashram, could be involved in the twin-murder.

But later it was found that he was in Dehra Dun at the time of the incident.

Despite the fact that four investigating teams had questioned scores of persons of Vikasnagar and Sahaspur area, the culprits were still at large.

However, after a team of forensic experts inspected the ashram on Thursday, police officials claimed that some vital clues were found.
