Advani takes up Modi’s visa with Rice
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, October 4
Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani took up strongly with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice here today the issue of purported denial of visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Rice currently on an official visit here, called Advani at his residence this evening.

BJP sources said Advani told Rice that Modi was a popularly elected Chief Minister and commands the support of 50 million Gujaratis.

He also said, “We had not even applied for the visa and the US State Department had made it out that his application had been rejected. This is highly objectionable,” he said.

BJP sources refused to say how the US secretary of state responded to allegations.
