A day after the Centre announced it was preparing to impeach Calcutta High Court Judge Soumitra Sen for ''misconduct,'' Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan today granted permission to the CBI to question two Punjab High Court judges, Nirmaljeet Kaur and Nirmal Yadav, in a ‘cash-at-door’ scam.

Meanwhile, Sen won’t quit, will face Parliament

Justice Soumitra Sen, against whom the Chief Justice of India has recommended impeachment, is not considering resignation and will defend himself as and when required, his counsel has said.

In an attempt to mend fences with New Delhi in the backdrop of what it called the NSG misunderstanding, China today denied that it tried to block unanimity on the India-specific waiver at the 45-member cartel’s meeting in Vienna last week but Indian officials were not convinced by Beijing’s argument.

Tata Motors has accused the state government of misinforming them about the land problem at Singur and held it responsible for the mess. Tata Motors managing director Ravi Kant today sent a letter to state industries minister Nirupam Sen, making it clear that unless they were certain that the main plan and design of the Nano project would not be disturbed, they would not re-start the plant.
