Dalai Lama falls ill
Tribune News Service

Dharamsala, August 27
The Dalai Lama has reportedly fallen ill and all his engagements for the next three weeks have been cancelled.

Sources said he was likely to leave for Mumbai tomorrow morning in a chartered plane for medical tests.

The Tibetan authorities here have already initiated the process for hiring a
chartered plane.

The Dalai Lama was to participate in the worldwide protest by Tibetans scheduled for August 30.

He was to observe fast and hold prayers for 12 hours to highlight the plight of Tibetans in their homeland.

The event was being accorded much importance in view of the fact that it would have been his first direct participation in a protest ever since the Tibetan protests against China began in March this year.
