Bus-queue shelters
Chandigarh, August 26 Instead of putting up the bus-queue shelters for the convenience of passengers, these have been purposely positioned to benefit advertisers, the UT’s local self-government department has pointed it out. Sources in the administration said while positioning the modern bus-queue shelters, builders have been allowed to use the best locations as far as the eye contact of road users was concerned. There have been complaints from passengers regarding the wrong location of these shelters. Not only the passengers, the CTU has also pointed out the wrong location of the facility. “Due to wrong location of the shelters, accidents take place. Some shelters have been located near roundabouts without applying the mind”, said an official. A driver of the CTU bus said after the introduction of the grid system, the location of the shelters had lost its relevance. Passengers preferred to wait for bus at spots other than the shelters. At some places, these shelters were positioned while not keeping in mind marking of the zebra crossing. “A passenger cannot cross from one side of the road to other to reach a shelter as there was fencing on the road divider”, said a commuter. Sources in the Municipal Corporation reveal that at the time of putting up the facility, the builders of the BOT sites had pointed out that due to trees, the bus queue shelters were not visible from a distance. As a result, advertisement at the site was not visible. |

Sanjiv was however at his best as he delineated a dhun in Raga Bhairavi, composed by his guru. Prodigious Manik Kohli won applause for his accompaniment on drums in two compositions. The incredibility of the performance lay in the way Kohli improvised the western guitar to offer a rich melody of Indian classical music as produced in sitar and sarod. This basically is an attempt to popularise Indian music among lovers of western music. Check pvt schools
Almost all private schools in the city charge exorbitant fee, but do not pay their teachers even half the salary drawn by their counterparts in government schools. This lowers the morale of the teachers and without motivation, they find it difficult to give their best to the students. Also, the schools get lands at special prices, but don’t allocate 15 per cent seats to children from the weaker sections of society. In my opinion, DPI/CBSE must intervene and take action against the defaulting schools. Hardeep
