Taslima free to live anywhere: Pranab

Kolkata, August 9
External affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee said here today that controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen had been granted permission to live at any place of her liking in India.

However, she would not do anything or write anything that could harm peace and amity among people and national interests.

Mukherjee was talking to mediapersons at the Netaji indoor stadium today where the Congress organised a rally.

He said it was the country’s tradition to give shelter to anyone who asked for it and accordingly the Centre had allowed Taslima to stay in the country in the past. But after some unwarranted incidents in Kolkata she had to leave the country.

Now, the situation had changed and she had been again allowed to live in the country. She could live where ever she liked to. — TNS
