Anandpur Sahib, August 4
“I saw three children of two to three years dying right in front of me. And I could do nothing," says Jasbir Kaur from Barnala. She was too shocked to continue and burst into tears. When people started running helter-skelter, Jasbir Kaur fell down and people were running. Just a few metres ahead she saw, two pairs of small legs moving, as if in terrible pain, and suddenly two children fell dead on the ground.

Kar sewa in times of tragedy
Anandpur Sahib, August 4
Punjabiyat rose to the fore yet again as those doing kar sewa rose to the occasion to arrange for the transfer of the bodies to native places. Besides this, they also attended to the relatives of those affected by the stampede yesterday. Even though the Himachal government deputed its Bilaspur subdivisional magistrate here since yesterday, it abrogated all responsibility as far as arranging for the transportation of bodies to their homes.
