Pak troops don’t give a damn
Firing yet again
Srinagar, August 2
Making light of India's protests, Army posts in Uri sector of Baramulla district came under firing from across the border last evening, the third such brazen violation of the ceasefire agreement by Pakistan in less than a month. Official sources said Pakistan's troops used small-arm fire to push militants into the Indian side.

Cold Comfort
PCS officer pays up for kundi
Patiala, August 2
The power-strapped Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) authorities are not in a mood to spare even the ‘big fish’ what with a PSEB team detecting power theft at the Majithia Enclave-based residence of a PCS officer Surinder Kaur Riar and making her cough up dues and fine to the tune of Rs 2.83 lakh on the spot.

Allies ka funda: Polls, not reforms
New Delhi, August 2
Ever since the Left parties announced a formal separation from the UPA government, finance minister P. Chidambaram has been preparing to proceed speedily with its reforms agenda that had been stalled by the Communists. However, Chidambaram’s enthusiasm for rushing through with the unfinished economic reforms agenda is not shared by the Congress and the UPA allies who are of the view that it is far too close to elections to undertake any far-reaching policy decisions.
