While President Pratibha
Patil has sought a formal meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh tomorrow after the Left parties withdrew support to the
UPA government, the Congress and its allies have got down to
the real business of mustering the numbers for a trial of
strength in the Lok Sabha, which will give legitimacy to the
ruling coalition to proceed with the Indo-US nuclear
agreement.

Bush praises PM for his leadership

Even as the government battled with the political fallout of the nuclear deal, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today discussed the progress on the agreement with US President George W. Bush, who praised him for his “leadership at home”.

India’s Atomic Energy chief Anil Kakodkar today came to the defence of the UPA government to blunt Left’s strident demand for releasing the nuclear safeguards text being negotiated with the
IAEA, saying the draft cannot be made public until it is finalised.

the Babri Masjid today sentenced Shiv Sena leader Madhukar Sarpotdar to
one-year imprisonment for his role in the violence.

Nullah raises big stink again

least 5,000 volunteers (kar sevaks) cleaned 20-km stretch of Budha
Nullah after spending Rs 50 lakh, besides their own resources for the
project. Their efforts have come to naught with the units situated along
