Four LeT ultras killed in J&K

Srinagar, June 22
Four Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and a CRPF jawan were killed in two separate encounters today. Another CRPF jawan and two policemen were injured.

The first encounter took place in Shopribagh village on the outskirts of Srinagar. On a tip-off, the police joined by the CRPF cordoned off the area. The holed-up militants fired upon them that left CRPF jawan K.C. Sahu of the 137 Battalion dead and another CRPF jawan G.K. Sharma of the same battalion and two policemen injured. Two militants were killed and were identified as Abu Shamas and Abdul Javid. Kashmir IG S.M. Sahai supervised the operation.

In another operation at Nariwan-Shopian area in Pulwana, the police and the Army shot down two LeT militants.

DIG Muneer Ahmad Khan said they launched the operation along with the 31 Rashtriya Rifles after getting information about the militants,who have been identified as Nazir Ahmad alias Abu Mohammad of Gulabgarh in Reasi and Assadullah of Sialkot in Pakistan.

Nazir was functioning as a LeT divisional commander of Rajouri and Poonch areas, the police said.

Security forces recovered two AK rifles, seven magazines, three Chinese grenades, one radio set, two wireless sets, 170 live rounds and one binocular from them.
