Plane with Lalu returns after bird-hit

New Delhi, June 14
A possible tragedy was averted today when the pilot of a plane carrying railway minister Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and 70 other passengers, decided to land shortly after the aircraft was hit by a bird.

The Kingfisher flight IT-331 was hit by a bird soon after take-off for Varanasi at 9.20 am, an airline spokesman said.

The pilot decided to return to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and the plane landed safely at 9.50 am.

The spokesman said the plane could have continued its journey till Varanasi but the pilot decided to return considering the safety of the people on board.

Lalu, along with his wife, was going to Varanasi to attend a party function.— PTI
