Bangalore, June 13
In an unprecedented incident, the wife of a BJP legislator is suspected to have been kidnapped in Karnataka’s Naxal-infested Udupi district.

It is learnt that Padmapriya, wife of BJP MLA from Udupi K. Raghupati Bhat, had gone missing on June 10. This morning, her car was found abandoned near Kunjargiri hills, near Katapady, under the Shirva police station. Padmapriya went to her parents’ house at Karnada on Tuesday driving the car herself. But she did not reach there, nor did she return home.

Her car was parked in the same place for the past three days. The locals did not know to whom the car belonged and nobody cared to inform the police.

It was learnt that cash, bangles, a SIM card and a few medicines were found inside the car. The incident came to light when the police went to Kunjargiri to investigate a case of murder attempt on an auto rickshaw driver. The abandoned car was spotted by the police and its ownership was traced subsequently.
