Info on funds to NGOs to be made public
New Delhi, June 7
Government funds granted to NGOs and other outside agencies will now be brought under the public scanner. This follows a direction from none other than the Prime Minister’s Office, which has instructed all social sector ministries to compulsorily place in the public domain all information on grants provided to NGOs.

Deadlock over venue for talks
Jaipur/Bayana, June 7
A sliver of hope for a quick end to the fortnight-long stalemate between the agitating Gujjars and the Rajasthan government was dashed today with the two sides deadlocked over the choice of venue for the crucial talks.

Oil hits all-time high at $139
New York, June 7
Oil prices have shot up more than $11 to a new record above $139 after Morgan Stanley predicted prices would hit $150 by July 4. Oil's meteoric surge, which pushed prices more than 8 per cent higher in a single day, added to a huge increase on Thursday to cap oil's biggest two-day gain in the history of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The Pakistani troops yet again allegedly violated the four-year-old ceasefire after they resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Salhotri area in Mendhar sector here late last evening. May quit if made useless: Mush
Pervez MusharrafPresident Pervez Musharraf has ruled out resignation “under present circumstances” adding that he is not thinking of going abroad in exile. “I will take a decision if at any time I felt that I cannot contribute anything of value to the country,” Musharraf told a select group of senior journalists in his first interaction with media since February 18 elections. He said he was an elected President and could be removed only through constitutional means by two-third majority of Parliament. He would accept whatever Parliament decided within the parametres of the constitution.
