Girls outshine boys in ICSE, ISC exams

New Delhi, May 20
Shruti Singh of Varanasi and Janaki Seth of Thane topped the ICSE (Class X) and Doon School’s Gaurav Sood emerged topper at the ISC (Class XII) examinations, results of which were declared today.

Giving details, Gerry Arthoon, additional secretary of the Council for Indian Certificate Examination, said the overall pass percentage was 98.4 for ICSE and 97.4 per cent for ISC. This showed a 0.8 per cent improvement in performance, against last year’s scores, he said.

Noting that girls fared better than the boys yet again at both the levels, he said while 98.63 per cent of girls came out successful in ICSE against 97.5 per cent of boys. In the ISC too, girls overpowered the boys, with a pass percentage of 98.23 against boys’ 96.1. While Shruti from St Joseph’s Convent School, Varanasi and Janaki Kirti Seth from Shrimati Sulochana Singhania School, Thane, scored 98.6 per cent in their Class X finals, Gaurav Sood from Doon School, topped the ISC chart scoring 99 per cent. — UNI
