Bathinda, May 13
In a backlash to the attack on BJP activists by SAD workers yesterday, BJP activists damaged two buses of the Orbit company, belonging to the Badal family, near the bus stand here today.

Four BJP activists, including Naveen Singla, district general secretary of the Bathinda BJP, D.P. Chandan, a senior BJP state leader, Sumita Gautam, state secretary and Amanpreet Singla, sustained serious injuries in the attack by Akali workers at Burg Gill and Bhunder villages in the district yesterday.

A march, comprising around 100 BJP activists, took off from the local Sirki Bazar. It reached the bus stand and the protesters blocked the Mall Road for around 45 minutes. As the two Orbit buses (PB10BM 0365) coming from Muktsar and (PB03R 4025) heading for Abohar from Patiala reached the blockade, they damaged them after letting the passengers to get off.

The incident took place at around 11.30 am, only about 200 yards from the SSP’s office where a meeting of police officials was going on.

On getting the information, police officials, led by SSP Naunihal Singh, reached the spot and pacified the BJP agitators. They tore all banners, depicting the photographs of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, which were displayed on the route of the march. They burnt the posters in front of the bus stand.

The protesters demanded the registration of cases against Jagdeep Singh Nakai, parliamentary secretary, and Sikander Singh Maluka, district president, SAD.
