Bid to murder woman; 2 booked

The Amritsar rural police have booked two persons on the charges of attempt to murder and molestation.In a complaint lodged by Usha Devi, a resident of Zaintipur, the complainant said the accused Vijay Kumar and Rajesh Kumar were trying to molest her. When she raised voice the duo shot at her.

Cong fears rejection of party men’s papers

Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lalli, president of district Congress committee (rural) today apprehended that the nomination papers of his party candidates would deliberately be rejected by local administration officials, who are also returning officers, on flimsy grounds at the ‘behest’ of ruling SAD-BJP alliance.

Inter-school contests: DAVians are overall champs

DAV Public School won the overall trophy, while Bhavan's SL Public school bagged the runners-up title in the inter-school contests organised by Delhi Public School on its foundation day on Friday. Various competitions, including collage making, ad-mad show, rangoli kaking, Hindi group song, salad making, fusion dance and flower arrangement, tested the creativity of participants from 16 schools across the city.

Cop booked for corruption

A head constable Bohar Singh, posted at the local Women Cell, has been booked in a corruption case by the city police. The case has been registered on the basis of a letter written by DSP CID Baldev Singh to the SSP in which he mentioned two instances wherein the accused had taken bribe. — OC

Samfra makes waves
Amritsar: A search engine Samfra.com developed by city-based brothers Jeet Singh and Gagandeep Singh has entered in 20 cities. Launch in September 2007, the website helps in finding ATMs, banks, restaurants, hotels and maps, etc. Jeet Singh said the search engine was regularly adding maps and more information like movie timings. Besides, users can also review movies, rate them and read storylines  of all movies.— OC
