Dowry Death: Man, mother get life term
Ludhiana, April 25
A fast-track court headed by an additional sessions judge has convicted a man and his mother in a dowry death case. They were sentenced to undergo rigorous life imprisonment.
Bhupinder Singh and Nasib Kaur were convicted of burning alive Harpreet Kaur. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on the accused.

Apprehending threat to the life of his recently wedded wife Kirandeep Kaur, Hardeep Pal Singh has urged the higher authorities to impress upon the police to help Kirandeep, who has been confined by her parents.
He alleged that they had abducted her after assaulting the couple yesterday.

BSNL services go on the blink

A technical snag in Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) mobile and broadband services left the city subscribers high and dry today.
The snag affected mobile users as well as Internet subscribers, who had to look for nearby cafés to access the Internet.
Removal of hoarding invites Cong wrath

The removal of a hoarding consisting of pictures of Congress icons from the Kaddon Chowk by the MC, as part of the election code, has invited the wrath of Congressmen who are planning agitations for the restoration of the hoarding.
A number of Congress leaders, including Adarsh Pal Bector and Surinder Pal Sood, former MC presidents, today assembled at the chowk today.
