Solan, April 12
Fighter pilot Anubhav Rao (24) was murdered by advocate Hari Dass Tanwar with a sharp-edged weapon on the outskirts of Kasauli last evening. Sameer Yadav, a flight lieutenant posted at Air Force Station, Ambala, was injured in the incident.
According to the police, the Air Force officials were accompanied by their two friends from Delhi, Shankar Ghosh and Ashish Chauhan. They were on their way to Shimla, but decided to spend the night at Kasauli. They were travelling in Shankar’s car (DLOCJ-5021). Tanwar was moving ahead in his vehicle (HP-15-A-4750). There was an altercation between the two parties as Tanwar was not giving them the right of way. Around 6.30 pm, they stopped at Garkhal and there was an altercation. After that, both parties moved on.
Near Mashobra on the Jangeshu road, Air Force officials stopped their car after overtaking the advocate’s vehicle. Rao and Yadav admonished Tanwar for giving them a difficult time on the road. An altercation ensued again.
Tanwar, who was allegedly
in an inebriated condition, took out a sharp-edged weapon from his vehicle and stabbed Anubhav in the right thigh. Sameer tried to intervene. Meanwhile, Tanwar brandished his weapon with a view to scare away the officials. Sameer also received injuries on the left arm and the waist.
Tanwar was reportedly travelling with his wife, mother and children. The police arrested him in the morning from his residence at Mushuwara village on the Gunai-Barotiwala road. The murder weapon was yet to be found. Rao was taken to the Kasauli Military Hospital from where he was referred to Command Hospital, Chandi Mandir. Sameer was also hospitalised. Rao hails from Sector 15 of Hisar, while Yadav is a son of an Army
official from Mahendergarh in Haryana.
