Arjun SinghSettling the controversial reservation issue in education, the Supreme Court today upheld the law providing 27 per cent quota for OBCs in IITs, IIMs and other central educational institutions and said the “creamy layer” cannot enjoy the benefit.

60 pc turnout in Nepal
Independent candidate shot dead
Despite violent run-up to the constituent assembly elections, people of Nepal on Thursday overwhelmingly voted in a peaceful manner with the turnout touching above 60 per cent. Talking to mediapersons, chief election commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel said: “The turnout of the voters across the country is estimated to be around 60 per cent.”

The International Olympic Committee today ruled out "interrupting" the 2008 Olympic torch relay following anti-China protests by Tibetan activists on its route even as the Dalai Lama renewed his support for the games and told China that he was no "demon".
