Ahmedabad, March 13
The Gujarat government has formed a three-member inquiry committee to probe into an incident in which a three-day-old baby was charred to death in an incubator following a short-circuit at the Shardaben hospital here.
The committee, comprising an additional director of the health department, chief electric officer of the state government and a senior officer of the Forensic Science laboratory, will probe into the technical details of the fire mishap, official sources said today.
It would inquire about the electrical lines and equipment used in the hospital and submit a report to the state government, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad
Municipal Corporation, which runs the hospital, has withdrawn 24 electric equipment for rechecking. After the inspection of equipment by experts, they would be utilised again, an AMC official said.The baby died at the city hospital during early hours yesterday when the incubator caught fire due to a short-circuit.
The state government had announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the parents of the infant from the CM’s Relief fund.
