The thought of getting an empty cooking gas cylinder refilled can give sleepless nights to any city resident. An acute shortfall of cylinders has led to gas agencies maintaining long waiting lists, forcing consumers to buy cylinders in black market, which could mean shelling out up to Rs 400 for a cylinder costing Rs 310.

Poor service: ICICI Bank told to pay Rs 12,000

The district consumer disputes redressal forum has asked a private bank to pay Rs 9,400 along with a compensation of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 as litigation expenses to a consumer after finding the bank deficient in providing proper service to the consumer.
