CIC accused of 'protecting' civil servants
Panipat, February 28
The decision of the chief information commissioner (CIC) of Haryana to drop penal proceedings against an HCS officer has drawn criticism for "protecting" civil servants. The applicant, P.P. Kapoor, state convener of the Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU), has alleged that the commission, which was being run by retired bureaucrats, was "protecting" civil servants on flimsy grounds.

The screening of Hrithik Roshan, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan-starrer "Jodhaa Akbar" has invited criticism from various quarters here. But their opposition to the film emanates from a different perspective other than the controversial relationship between Jodhaa Bai and Akbar. The fulmination against the film was first articulated in a press release circulated among the mediapersons here by Sudhir Bhargava, convener of the Hemu Vikramaditya Foundation (HVF).

Space centre to map towns

The Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC) will do large-scale base mapping of towns of Haryana. It will also introduce various courses in the field of geoinformatics to meet the increasing demand of qualified manpower in this area.
