Jagraon, February 25
Six persons, including two women and three children, were killed when a train
crashed into a car at an unmanned crossing number C-37 near Jagraon late this evening. Five of the deceased were members of one family belonging to Jalalabad. They were identified as Bittu and his wife Kamma.
The identity of the children, two sons and a daughter,all aged under 10 years, was yet to be ascertained, along with the another deceased woman.
Kamma had reportedly come to her paternal house in Aghwar Ladhhai Colony in Jagraon and was heading to in-laws’ house in Jalalabad.
Inspector Kulwant Singh of the Railway Protection Force said the incident took place at about 7:45 pm when the 7-LF passenger train heading towards Ludhiana from Ferozepore hit a white Maruti car at the unmanned crossing.
