Gurgaon, February 11
“I was not aware about the kidney racket run by Dr Amit at his Gurgaon Palam Vihar hospital,” said Dr Saraj, who was in the search list of the police for his alleged involvement in the kidney racket, after his surrender in a Gurgaon court today. The Gurgaon duty magistrate sent him to judicial custody for one day. Now, Dr Saraj will be produced before the magistrate for hearing tomorrow.
Dr Saraj, a resident of Shahadra in Delhi, was at large since January 24, the day the raid was conducted at Dr Amit’s hospital in Gurgaon.
Talking to mediapersons, Dr Saraj said he was not aware about the kidney racket run by Dr Amit and his accomplice and had no links with him.
Asked how he came in contact with Dr Amit, Dr Saraj said on January 22 he got a call from Dr Amit’s hospital that their regular doctor was not available and they needed consultancy for one of their patients.
He said on this plea, he went to their hospital to examine the patient and after that he left for Mumbai where he had some personal work. He said he had no clinic in Delhi as well as in Gurgaon. He said he was an anaesthesia consultant and did his MD from Kanpur Medical College.
Dr Saraj said while he was in Mumbai he came to know that the police was searching for him in the kidney racket case and so he surrendered today.
