LeT blast plans in Karnataka, Goa revealed

Hubli, February 3
Three suspected LeT activists being grilled by the police today revealed plans to set off explosions targeting vital IT installations in the city and foreign tourists in Goa.

Commissioner of police Narayana Nadamani told UNI investigations were on and the case would be handed over to the COD by this evening. However, he refused to divulge more details.

The police said Asif Mohammad, a final year MBBS student, was arrested for alleged links with suspected LeT activists Riyazuddin Naser of Hyderabad and Asadullah of Hospet, who were nabbed in Honnali Town of Davangere district early this month.

Meanwhile, the Davangere police found gelatin sticks, detonators and timers here at places where the suspects stayed.

The trio would undergo narco-analysis and brain mapping tests at Bangalore from February 6.

Both Riyazuddin and Asadullah had reportedly confessed to their allegiance to the LeT. They had also revealed that they had undergone training in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to make improvised explosive devices.

They were told to steal bikes, park them in crowded public places after fitting the explosives, especially at vital IT installations in the state capital and tourist destinations along the coast, including Goa, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Backward Association, in a release, said the flag found at Saaton Shaheed Darga, about 12 km from here in Kalghatagi Taluk, was not Pakistani but a religious flag.

In Davangere, police sources said they were looking for Nooruddin of Bijapur, an accomplice of the trio. He was a contact person for the terror outfit in the area. — UNI
