Excise holiday for non-manufacturing units in HP ends
Chandigarh, January 20
In a move that will help the industry in Punjab and Haryana, the Centre has withdrawn excise concessions from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand-based units which are not into manufacturing, but are availing tax concessions on the basis of their location in these hill states.

Two arrested Indians shifted to Madrid

4 NE insurgent groups call for R-Day boycott

Four insurgent groups active in the North East - the banned United Liberation Front of Asom, Kamatapur Liberation Organisation, Manipur People’s Liberation Front and Tripura People’s Democratic Front - have given a joint call for boycott of ‘Indian Republic Day’ and general strike on the same day in protest against continued ‘Indian colonial occupation of the region.’
