Chinese signals on nuclear cooperation with India are positive. The indications were perceptible during informal talks over dinner between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Formal talks between the two leaders scheduled for tomorrow are expected to reinforce the optimism that emerged late this evening.

Singh today underscored that “the rise of China and India
should be viewed as an ‘international public good’ by the
global community as it offers new opportunities to sustain
growth”.

today had a feel of China’s preparations for the summer Olympics
here and met an Indian business woman who has been chosen among
the eight foreigners to carry the Olympic torch on Chinese soil in
August next year.
