Patna, January 8
The busy East Boring Canal road here today witnessed broad daylight gunfire, killing one Sanjay Kumar Singh.

And much to the dismay of residents, even before the police could act on the murder, reportedly replicating the style of any Bollywood blockbuster, the state government was embarrassed with an FIR reportedly lodged against ‘bahubali’ ruling JD (U) MLA Anant Singh at Kotwali police station by relatives of Sanjay Singh for allegedly conspiring to kill him.

Incidentally, Sanjay Singh himself was the brother of Vivek Singh, another noted ‘bahubali’ from Barh subdivision of Patna.

Anant Singh too is an MLA from the Barh area and was reported to have past enmity with Vivek Singh.

Sanjay Singh was shot dead by gunmen inside the office of rural engineering organisation of the government around 3 pm.

By profession a contractor, Sanjay Singh had an altercation with four persons outside the office following which they began brandishing pistols. Subsequently, he ran into the office to save him but was shot dead.

The victim was reported to have received four gunshot injuries and died on the spot.

While probing the matter, the police was also exploring the past record of Sanjay Singh in view of his relation with Vivek Singh.

Earlier, Anant Singh was charged with beating up three mediapersons representing the electronic channels after they went to his residence in Patna to question his alleged involvement in a murder case. The uproar that followed over the alleged beating up of mediapersons then forced the government to arrest Anant Singh, who was released on bail later.
