Satna, January 3
An eighth class student of a government school in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh was killed today when his senior schoolmate allegedly shot at him in the school premises in the second such crime in the country within the space
of a month.
In a replay of the Gurgaon school shooting last month, the police said the tenth-standard student gunned down the 15-year-old victim with a country-made revolver. The school is located in Chorbani
village.
It was not immediately known what prompted the shooting during school hours but there were reports that it occurred after a scuffle between the two students, the police said.
The injured student was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way. The exact cause of the quarrel was not yet known, Satna superintendent of police Kamal Singh Rathore told PTI.
The police have registered a case and investigations are underway but no arrests have been made so far.
On December 11, an eighth standard student of an elite Gurgaon school was killed when two of his classmates allegedly fired five bullets at him from point blank range in perhaps the first such shooting in a school in the country.
