Taslima
welcome back in Kolkata, says Basu Kolkata,

Veteran Jyoti Basu said
today Taslima Nasreen was welcome back in Kolkata, though
there was hardly any possibility of her immediate return to
the city. The Centre’s decision on her stay out of the city
had already been conveyed to the Chief Minister, Buddhadeb
Bhattacharjee, by external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee,
the ministry sources claimed.

Curfew was imposed in
four towns after a youth was killed and six churches and a
minister’s houses were targeted today in large-scale
communal violence and arson in Orissa’s Kandhamal district
following an attack on a VHP leader who led an anti-conversion
movement.

LS poll in redrawn constituencies New Delhi,

The next Lok Sabha
elections will be held in redrawn constituencies, an exercise
that has already made many politicians unhappy. After three
years of painstaking work, the Delimitation Commission chief
concedes there will be some politicians, who will be unhappy
over change in constituencies, but feels by and large
political parties are not opposed to the exercise.
G.P. Sippy dead
Mumbai, December 25
Noted Bollywood producer G.P. Sippy of ‘Sholay’ fame died here tonight after prolonged illness, family sources said.
Sippy (93) had produced some of the biggest blockbusters, including ‘Sholay’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Shaan’ and ‘Sagar’.

path’ at the residence of a dera follower.

against
Star Plus Mumbai, December 25
Rakhi Sawant, who features in music
videos and movies, today filed a criminal complaint against ‘Star
Plus’ accusing them of rigging viewer polls after she lost in the
reality show - ‘Nach Baliye 3’. Accompanied by her choreographer
Abhishek Awasthi, Rakhi filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police
station in Mumbai.
