Eleventh Five-Year Plan, aiming to sustain 9 per cent growth, was today approved by the National Development Council after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh refuted allegation of “communal budgeting” and cautioned against adverse impact on the economy of global financial crisis and rising commodity prices.

with 65 to 72 per cent of the electorate exercising their
franchise. After a sluggish start polling to the keenly fought
assembly elections picked up as the day progressed.

In a major sign of
thawing of relations between India and China, the first-ever
joint exercises between the armies of the two countries,
codenamed “Hand in Hand”, will start from tomorrow in a
hilly terrain in Kunming in the Yunnan province of China.
