The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today filed a challan against 36 persons in the Ludhiana City Centre scam, including former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and former local bodies minister Jagjit Singh.

Shooting shadow on Gurgaon

Maoists blow up rail tracks

Even before the Nitish government could get its acts together to combat the Maoist guerrillas after their attack in Vaishali on Monday, the armed extremists went on a rampage by blowing up railway tracks at two places in Lakhisarai district to protest against death sentence awarded to five of their comrades for killing three policemen in Banka district last week.

Major cities to get missile defence shield
New Delhi, December 12
Major cities of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and other “high value targets” will get the anti-ballistic missile defence shield, once the ballistic defence system is fully operational within the next three to four years, missile and strategic system chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation Dr V.K. Saraswat said here today.

Vikram PanditIndia-born Vikram Pandit has been appointed chief executive officer of Citigroup, the world's largest financial services organisation, with immediate effect. The appointment of 50-year-old Pandit, who has also been made a member of the board of directors, ended a weeks-long high level search for a new person to lead the New York-based banking giant after former CEO Charles Prince stepped down on November 4 following huge investment losses for Citigroup.
