Schoolboys gun down classmate in Gurgaon
Gurgaon, December 11
Abhishek Tyagi, a Class VIII student of Euro International School, Gurgaon, was shot dead from a point-blank range by his classmates Vishal and Rakesh (not their real names) due to an old rivalry. The incident took place on the school campus today.
The body of Abhishek Tyagi, a Class VIII student of Euro International School at Sector 45 in Gurgaon, who was shot dead by classmates being taken to his home from a hospital on Tuesday.

Teenagers tend to succumb to violence as they are at a crucial point in life when they are coming to terms with their own hormonal changes, increased study load as well as peer pressure, say counsellors after two teenagers shot dead their classmate in an upscale Gurgaon school Tuesday.

Pak test-fires cruise missile

Amidst global concerns about the safety of its atomic arsenal, Pakistan today test fired a nuclear-capable cruise missile with a range of 700 km, which could hit targets inside India.

40 Tiger rebels, four soldiers killed in Lanka

In fierce gunbattles between Sri Lankan security forces and LTTE militants, 40 Tamil Tiger rebels and four soldiers were killed in island nation’s embattled north, the defence ministry said today. In north-western Mannar, at least 20 LTTE militants were killed and over 30 wounded in fierce gunbattles in south of Adampan today, it said.

The Supreme Court today directed the Ahmedabad Development Authority (ADA) to change its plan of constructing a road through Sabarmati Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi to avoid demolition of any structures within it.

As an immediate fallout of yesterday’s unprecedented verdict by a Division Bench of the Supreme Court questioning the orders of its larger Benches on composite floor test in the UP and Jharkhand Assembly cases, another two Bench of two judges today refused to hear a PIL seeking a clarification, from the CJI, whether they had power to hear it.

Maoists kill 3 in Bihar
Patna, December 11
Three persons were killed and another was injured when Maoist rebels opened fire at a village in Vaishali district of Bihar late last night. The police said nearly 80 armed cadres of the banned outfit arrived at Sukki village, under the Patepur police station, and opened fired indiscriminately in front of the house of village mukhiya Indramohan Singh.

ICL is here to stay. Buoyed by the success of Twenty20 games in Panchkula the Indian Cricket League is planning to host another tournament in March next. An agency conducting survey regarding the viewership of programmes being run on various TV channels found out huge interest generated by the ICL matches among cricket buffs. “While the current Indo-Pak series got 2 rating points, the ICL matches got 1.8 rating points,” Essel Group's executive vice-president, Ashish Kaul, revealed here.
