A Patna sessions court today awarded death sentence to former member of Parliament Anand Mohan Singh along with former minister Akhlaq Ahmed and Prof Arun Kumar for inciting a mob leading to the lynching of a district magistrate nearly 13 years ago.

Mughalsarai stampede kills 13 women
Lucknow, October 3
As many as 13 (15 according to PTI) fasting women on their way to take a holy dip in the Ganga at Varanasi died in a stampede at the Mughalsarai railway station this afternoon. The mishap was reportedly caused due to the railways authorities changing the platform of a train at the last moment.

Abdul Wahab, a student of Anand Engineering College, has been admitted to a private hospital with a multiple fracture on Monday night.

The Sensex jumped a whopping 518 points today taking it up three per cent to touch 17,847. The benchmark index came within kissing distance of 18,000 as it touched 17,953 levels in intra-day trade. In the broader markets, the NIFTY surged past 5,200 levels to close at 5,210.
