China breathes progress, inequality
Shanghai, September 22
Years ago, when an Indian Cabinet minister visited the UAE, he came back awestruck by Dubai’s amazing infrastructure and its high development indices. Lamenting at length on how India was lagging way behind on these two fronts, he ended on a more philosophical note; “If nothing else, at least we have the freedom to speak”.

The incident took place at around 7 am when some two-wheeler drivers came to get the fuel tanks filled. After buying the fuel, their vehicles stopped within 50 metres from the petrol station.

William Wordsworth recollected in Urdu
Chandigarh, September 22
Eighteenth century Romantic poet William Wordsworth’s lyrical verses will now find resonance in Urdu, courtesy retired English professor Jogendra Kaushal. While this British poet is his muse, interestingly American poet Robert Frost’s lines “And miles to go before I sleep” from ‘Stopping by woods on a Snowy Evening’ best epitomise this grand old man’s “designs”.
