Coming under tremendous pressure from Opposition BJP and other Sangh Parivar outfits and even some of its allies for filing a controversial affidavit in the Supreme Court in the Sethusamudram case questioning the existence of Lord Rama, the UPA government, in a volte-face today, decided to drop every objectionable paragraphs from it and file an amended affidavit by tomorrow.

HC stay on withdrawal of cases against SAD-BJP men

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today stayed the decision of the SAD-BJP ruling alliance to withdraw criminal cases against its leaders and supporters registered during the five-year Congress rule till further orders. The orders are specifically in respect of Barnala district only.

HC upholds death sentence to Ashfaq

The death sentence awarded to a Pakistani terrorist by a special court here for daring attack on the military establishment in the Red Fort seven years ago, was upheld by the Delhi High Court today, holding that he deserved no mercy for having no value for human life.
