Chief parliamentary secretary Avinash Chander today made a surprise visit to civil hospital here this noon and found various anomalies in the routine functioning.

This year the Independence Day brought something special for Jalandhar. The district walked away with a major pie share of state-level awards. As many as five persons were selected from here, highest from any district, for the prestigious awards which were presented in a glittering function at Ludhiana by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday.
