Banur/Dera Bassi, August 4
The Vigilance Bureau today checked and sealed Markfed godowns in Banur and Dera Bassi following information that wheat stocked there for the atta-dal scheme was being pilfered and sold in the open market.

Hydro, Thermal Units Trip
Northern grid collapses
Patiala, August 4
The Punjab, Himachal and J&K circles of the northern gird today collapsed at about 5 pm today. Due to a fault in the grid, all thermal and hydro-power plants in the region, including Bhakra, Chamera power projects, Ropar and Bathinda thermal plants tripped, disrupting power supply in the entire region.

Phoenix lander launched to Mars

A US space probe named Phoenix Mars Lander was successfully launched early today from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and began its nine-month journey to Mars, where it will dig for clues to past and present life.
The Phoenix spacecraft lifts off successfully from Kennedy Space Center as viewed from Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral, Florida on Saturday.

Theft at Sunil Dutt’s ancestral house
Yamunanagar, August 4
Thieves broke into the ancestral house of Sanjay Dutt in Mandoli village in the wee hours of Saturday. The uncle and aunt of Sanjay Dutt were not home, having left for Mumbai about a fortnight ago in connection with the TADA court’s judgment on the actor. The thieves took away cash, jewellery and other articles valued between Rs 6 and Rs 7 lakh. Hundreds of people gathered at the village as the news of the theft spread.
