Tanker overturns, action sought against IOC men

Phagwara SDM Amritpal Singh has sent a detailed report on overturning of a tanker carrying 17.5 tonnes of LPG to the deputy commissioner of Kapurthala. The report has called for action against Indian Oil Company officials who reached the spot 12 hours late.

Khana Khazana to promote good eating habits

Khana Khazana, a three-day programme promoting good eating habits among children, was organised by Eklavya School here today. The event will see a large number of activities being undertaken by the students. On Thursday, kids took part in ‘Snakes and Ladders’ game which was moulded a bit to promote the programme message.

WWICS unveils new scheme

WWICS, a Mohali-based immigration firm, has unveiled its new finance scheme for permanent residency programme here on Monday. Deputy general manager B.S. Woman sets herself ablaze
Phagwara, July 12
Manjit Kaur of Maherru village committed suicide after setting herself ablaze on Tuesday night. The deceased’s brother Krishan Dass alleged that his sister was being mentally and physically tortured by her in-laws for more dowry for the past eight years. “Fed up with the atrocities, Manjit has left her husband Davinder Lal’s house and it was only after intervention of village elders we decided to give the family another chance. However, the harassment never stopped,” said
