Finally after 14 days, the conflict between Sikhs and dera followers seems to have ended, as the Dera Sacha Sauda apologised to the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh following the controversy over newspaper advertisements that showed the dera chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh attired like Guru Gobind Singh.

Sikh clergy emergency meeting tomorrow

The Jathedar, Akal Takht, has convened an emergency meeting of the Sikh clergy at the Akal Takht secretariat on May 29 here to discuss the apology tendered by Dera Sacha Sauda.

Kanwaljit’s bhog passes off peacefully
Sangrur, May 27
Though the bhog ceremony of Kanwaljit Singh (who died in firing near a dera at Sunam) today passed off peacefully at Gurdwara Nankiana Sahib, near here, the hardliners later gheraoed the Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib outside the gurdwara and protested against the Jathedars of the Takhts and the Badal government.

International Cricket Council president Percy Sonn, who was critically ill for the past few days, died in Cape Town today. Sonn, 57, was admitted to the Durbanville clinic in Cape Town on Monday after developing complications from a colon surgery.

Nepal king fulfils 117-yr-old Indian’s wish
Kathmandu, May 27
After almost a century, a 117-year-old Indian woman in Nepal finally had her two biggest dreams fulfilled - becoming a bona fide Nepali citizen and getting an audience with King Gyanendra. Though she was born in Sunsari district in southern Nepal and lived there all her life, Kamaladevi Pathak, whose parents were of Indian origin, did not have a Nepali citizenship.
