30 die in Pak blast; minister, son hurt

Islamabad, April 28
Pakistan’s interior minister Aftab Khan Sherpao and his son were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at his public rally, killing 30 persons and wounding 50 in North-West Frontier Province today.

The Supreme Court will examine the validity of the rules framed by the bar councils of some states, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, debarring the law graduates of over 45 years of age from registering themselves as advocates.

Virk joins in Maharashtra
Chandigarh, April 28
Former Punjab DGP S.S. Virk has finally joined duty in his parent cadre of Maharashtra. Sources confirmed that Virk, a 1970 batch IPS officer, reported for duty in Mumbai yesterday on the instructions of the union home ministry.

UP polling peaceful
Lucknow, April 28
The fifth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh passed off without any violence being reported from anywhere today. Around 46 per cent of voters came out to vote in the nine districts. The highest polling percentage at 54 per cent was at Jehanabad in Fatehpur and the lowest at 28 per cent was in Lucknow West.
