Jalandhar, April 24
In what could be termed as a major blunder on part of the Jalandhar Cantonment Board (JCB) officials, that clearly indicates the shady working of the board,
an agenda that was presented in the meeting carried only 32 items as against the 33 listed in original agenda prepared by the authorities.
Taking a serious note of the act the Jalandhar Cantonment press club has sent a complaint to the secretary of ministry of defence against CEO, Cantonment Board Sumitra Mishra and its president Brigadier
BB Patil.
In its complaint the club has levelled serious allegations of forgery, fabrication, tampering of public records, and manipulation with view to cheat press and general public.
The agenda provided to the press (bearing number JCB/7/19/41/C) after the board’s meeting held on April 11, under the chairmanship of by its chief executive officer (CEO) Sumitra Mishra, carried 32 items as against the 33 items listed in the original agenda (bearing number JCB/7/19/ 38/C).
The Tribune has in its possession copies of both
the agendas. The missing item that bore issue number 22 in the original list pertained to the cheating and mass copying during examinations in the Cantonment Board School for boys.
Levelling allegations of misguiding the media and public at large, general secretary of press club of the board, Ravinder Singh Sabharwal, told The Tribune that the aforesaid issue was deliberately concealed from the press.
Sabharwal said that the board officials had intentionally done so in order to prevent the issue of mass copying during examinations from getting published in the news papers and to avoid any any action against the school principal SC Arora.
When contacted, the president of Cantonment Board, BB Patil asked to talk about theis matter to the CEO as she would provide the official information.
However when CEO was contacted at her residential number, she refused to say anything about the missing of item number 22 in the agenda provided to the press. All she could say was “this is my residential number and for any official matter call me on my office number at 3.30 pm”.
When called upon at the given time an employee of the board, Sham Sunder said that Madam was not available.
Meanwhile, the complainants have also requested to register an FIR against Mishra, Patil and other erring officers for tampering with the public records.
