Punjab recommends suspension of Virk

The Punjab Home Department has reportedly recommended the suspension of former DGP S.S Virk while informing the Union Government of its decision. Sources reveal that suspension has been recommended in a case where Virk had allegedly had some financial transaction for a purported land deal in the periphery of Chandigarh.

Capt seeks transit bail for return

Former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking directions to the Punjab Police, the Vigilance Bureau and others not to arrest him in transit when he returns to India from the UK sometime later this month.

Khalistan ideologue Dr Jagjit Singh Chohan died at his residence at Tanda, 32 km from here, today following a massive heart attack. He was 80. He is survived by his wife, Charanjit Kaur.
