Punjab to honour water pacts
New Delhi, March 28
The Punjab government took a diametrically contrary stand to that of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s statement on Section 5 of the Punjab Termination of Agreement (PTA) Act in the Supreme Court today stating that it would honour the water-sharing accord with the neighbouring states as protected under its provisions.

Badal: Police to be tamed

Drastic reforms in the police, strong action against corrupt politicians and officials, three months to one year remission in the jail term of convicts, free education up to graduation for students from poor sections, setting up of urban development authorities in five cities, one-time loan settlement scheme for SCs and BCs and health insurance for poor families are some of the important announcements made today by CM.

Life Convicts’ Release
SC flays Punjab, Haryana
New Delhi, March 28
The Supreme Court today took a serious view of 12 states, including Punjab and Haryana, for not filing replies to its notices on a petition seeking to lay down uniform guidelines by the Centre and states for the release of life convicts after the completion of 14-year sentence and directed that their home secretaries should appear on April 25.

Fly Kangra to Delhi every day

Air Deccan has started operating daily flights from New Delhi to the scenic valley of Kangra situated on the foothills of the Dhauladhar range of mountains in Himachal Pradesh from today.

IAF sets up 8 radars on TN coast

Following an air raid by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on Colombo on Monday, the Indian Air Force has set up eight radars on the coast of Tamil Nadu to monitor any violation of air safety into India and plans to set up an air base in the area in future.
