Pawan Kumar Pawan Kumar, alias Monu, convicted of the murder of S. Manjunath, is to be hanged till death while his seven accomplices have been sentenced to life imprisonment and awarded a penalty of Rs 10,000 each by the district and sessions court in Lakhimpur Khiri today.

Using light aircraft, Tamil rebels today bombed a military base near the international airport here, killing three airmen and injuring 16, in their first aerial attack in nearly over two decades of ethnic conflict in the island nation.
