Still not able to come out of the shock of the assembly poll debacle, the All-India Congress Committee has set in motion its efforts to restructure its Punjab unit by preferring Rajinder Kaur Bhattal to Amarinder Singh as leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

With suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry becoming a rallying point against General Musharraf, the legal community across the country on Monday boycotted courts while an all parties conference (APC) held here called upon Musharraf to quit power making way for a national government.

Mulayam
moves SC in assets case
New Delhi, March 12
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today moved the Supreme Court for modification of its order on the CBI probe into his assets and instead sought a judicial inquiry alleging that the petition against him had been filed on behalf of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and CBI, under the UPA coalition, was not functioning “independently”.

for murder
Faridabad, March 12
The Additional District and Sessions Judge today sentenced two persons
to life term and another to three months’ imprisonment in connection
with the murder of a taxi driver in 2002.
